Stress and Anxiety - How They Relate to Sugar Problems

Stress and anxiety can have devastating affects on your life, health, and well-being, this is no surprise.

Physical effects include an increase in sickness and disease, headaches, neck and back pain, chest pain, shortness of breath, heart palpitations, stomach disorders, sleep disturbances, fatigue, and exhaustion.

The toll on us emotionally is great - depression, sadness, anger, insecurity, worry, irritability, lack of focus. When all of these combine, these symptoms or conditions can lead to a displacement of our feelings that can ruin our relationships and lead to addictions.

When we feel nervous, anxious, or stressed, we become agitated and hypersensitive. So does our nerve system and endocrine system. The adrenals are manufacturing and releasing more energy releasing steroidal hormones, and the pancreas is busy releasing more insulin into the bloodstream to take the increase in blood sugar into the cells to be burned for energy.

When larger amounts if insulin are being released into the bloodstream on a constant basis, as it is with ongoing stress, the insulin receptors on the cells that allow sugar to enter become desensitized. The insulin is no longer effective and blood sugar levels rise.

Indications that blood sugar problems exist include frequent urination, sweet smelling urine, excessive thirst, increased hunger, weight loss, increased fatigue, moodiness, blurred vision, slow to heal, itchy skin, yeast infections, numbness, and tingling.

A positive affect on blood sugar levels may be brought about through regular weightlifting exercises. This will increase the demand for sugar to get inside the cells for energy production. Also, two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar twice a day in equal amounts of water can help.

Iodine fulfillment therapy can also help resensitize the desensitized insulin receptors on the cell membranes. This should be done under the supervision of a natural health care provider. Do not take sugar issues lightly.

If you think you may have sugar issues, seek professional care.
